Whether privately or publicly funded, manned space exploration has functioned as testing ground for technological and ideological ambitions. In the large scale narrative of space, the astronaut is posited as heroic adventurer, the test pilot of scientific advancement. By flipping the pioneer narrative on its head, K_XYZ tells the story of the native astronaut through a series of fictional journal entries authored by a theoretical entity: The First Human Born In Space.
TILL IT’S GONE, An Exhibition on Nature and Sustainability
EXHIBITION: January 13 - June 5, 2016 Featuring artists from various periods and geographies as they explore artistic positions and approaches to ecological issues and the world we live in.
K_XYZ: The First Human Born In Space is a multi-disciplinary project primarily composed of eight short films written and directed by Jasmin Blasco, produced by Pico Studio in partnership with Creative Migration. Flipping the pioneer narrative on its head, the films tell the story of the native astronaut through a series of fictional journal entries authored by a theoretical entity: The First Human Born In Space.
In a series of transmissions, The First Human Born in Space examines the long term effects of the condition of outer space on the human subject, mind and body. The orbital perspective of the native astronaut provides an alien vantage point on Earth from an environment of pure technological mediation. The project explores the ideology of function as it extends from engineering into the social realm.

Welcome To You
Welcome To You is a guided meditation and visualization exercise that builds upon the narrative framework of The First Human Born In Space to explore meditation as a form of storytelling.
Transmission 5 was a guided meditation led by The First Human Born in Space, recorded in French and in English. Presented via headphones in the reception area of the Seymour Projects space, the piece was written and recorded with the intent to provide an additional experience to participants in the project space.
Transmission 5 was on display at Seymour Projects in Paris through September 2016.
VVFA is a public facing research project consisting of a Podcast, a series of Co-enquiries and special Projects, aiming at democratising future narratives. Its method uses Space Exploration as a lens to examine current ideas and values which may pertain to future societies through technological advances.
VVFA explores new modes of creative collaboration between artists, technologists, scientists and partner institutions worldwide.
Jasmin Blasco Laboratory (JBL) is an experimental research lab approaching time-based media as the site where sound, image, and language conspire to generate the fictional.
